About the role 🤓
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Financial Controller to help shape the accounting operations outside of Spain and play a pivotal role in shaping seQura’s financial future. This position is critical to our organization’s growth and success, particularly as we prepare for multiple jurisdiction expansions in the coming years. The ideal candidate will bring a robust accounting background, preferably within innovative, technology-driven companies, as well as experience in banking or financial institutions.
As Financial Controller, you will oversee financial operations for our international expansion, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accounting standards (IFRS). Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you will play a crucial role in aligning financial strategies with company goals and ensuring operational excellence.
Job requirements
What challenges you'll be solving 🚀
Lead the implementation, and continuous improvement of financial processes, IT system controls, and internal controls for our international operations via our Swedish banking partners. Ensure scalability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance from day one.
Oversee all financial accounting and controlling activities specifically for the international markets. This includes month-end/year-end closing, variance analysis, regulatory reporting preparation (in collaboration with compliance teams), and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data under IFRS.
Implement and manage rigorous data review processes. Partner closely with IT to define data governance frameworks, ensure data integrity from source systems to financial reports, and oversee the financial aspects of IT projects impacting banking operations.
Act as a key financial liaison to the international commercial and operational teams. Provide financial guidance, support decision-making, and translate business initiatives into financial implications.
System Implementation Support: Play a key role in the potential selection and implementation of financial systems and tools to support international growth.
Play a leading role in the implementation, and enhancement of financial systems, core banking platforms (from a finance perspective), and BI tools to support our international operations and international growth. Ensure systems are fit for purpose and meet regulatory requirements.
Collaborate closely with FP&A, Treasury, Operations, Risk, and Tech teams to clearly communicate the financial and regulatory implications of business decisions.
Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in and lead various finance-related projects as seQura expands its international footprint.

What you’ll need 🫱🏼🫲🏽
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
3-5 years as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role, with significant experience in the banking, fintech, lending, or financial services sector.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems. Experience with BI tools is a plus.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail.
Fluent in English (both written and spoken), with a strong ability to clearly communicate financial information and collaborate effectively across teams.
Have a hands-on, proactive attitude. You take ownership of your responsibilities and hold yourself accountable for delivering accurate work on time.
Advanced Excel skills are required (pivot tables, lookups, power-query data analysis).

Familiarity with banking regulations and reporting requirements in the Swedish jurisdiction would be a strong plus
