About the role 🤓

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Head of Accounting to lead our accounting operations and play a pivotal role in shaping SeQura’s financial future. This position is critical to our organization’s growth and success, particularly as we prepare for a potential IPO in the coming years. The ideal candidate will bring a robust accounting background, preferably within innovative, technology-driven companies, as well as banking or financial institution experience.

As the Head of Accounting, you will oversee financial operations, drive strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accounting standards (IFRS). Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be instrumental in aligning financial strategies with company goals, managing a high-performing accounting team, and ensuring operational excellence. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker with the expertise to navigate the challenges of scaling a dynamic organization.

Job requirements

What challenges you'll be solving 🚀

Accounting Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee and lead all accounting operations across multiple entities and geographies (EU and beyond), ensuring excellence in financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory adherence.

  • Transition to and ensure future compliance with IFRS and other relevant accounting standards across the organization.

  • Oversee and refine the monthly close process and entity-wide reconciliation procedures.

  • Ensure accurate, timely tax filings and manage external audit and regulatory relationships.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Build scalable accounting policies and processes, mentor a high-performing team, and foster leadership growth while driving a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Drive financial strategies and IPO readiness, acting as a strategic advisor and collaborating cross-functionally 

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily functions, including Accounts Receivable, Revenue, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and reconciliations.

  • Identify and address operational inefficiencies, collaborating closely with our dedicated Finance-Tech team and cross-functional teams to develop scalable solutions.

  • Implement and optimize workflows to improve financial operations and reporting accuracy.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting for senior management, external stakeholders, and board presentations.

  • Analyze financial performance to identify improvement opportunities and execute corrective strategies.

  • Provide forward-looking insights to drive data-driven decision-making and organizational growth.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Align financial reporting and practices with IPO regulatory and market standards, ensuring seamless readiness for public markets.

  • Oversee external audit processes, ensuring compliance and a smooth collaboration with auditors and advisors.

  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in finance and accounting.

What you’ll need 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

  • Education: Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred.

  • Language: Proficiency in both English and Spanish is a must!

  • Experience: At least 10 years in accounting, including 5+ years in a similar role, ideally in innovative, fast-scaling companies or financial institutions.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of IFRS, regulatory requirements, tax compliance, and audit processes; proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite and experience with visualization tools. 

  • Strategic Vision: Proven ability to align financial strategies with business goals, with a track record of preparing accounting for IPOs or significant transitions.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.

  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex Accounting and financial challenges.

  • Communication: Translating complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and adapting to the fast-paced demands of a growing company.
