About seQura
seQura provides innovative, flexible and easy-to-use payment technologies that help merchants acquire, convert and retain more customers.
We make a difference in sales performance by tailoring our solutions to different sectors, to address their unique pain points and deliver superior results in Retail, Education, Eyewear, Repairs and Travel.
We also empower smart shopping to consumers who seek more value, convenience, and flexibility in their shopping, with new payment experiences that allow them to save, access interest-free credit, or pay in small, comfortable installments of up to 24 months.
Born in Barcelona, seQura is a privately-owned fintech, currently expanding throughout southern Europe and Latin America, growing above 50% CAGR and approaching 100 Million in Annual Recurring Revenue.
Over 5000 businesses, almost 2 million shoppers, and almost 400 employees continue to rate us as one of the most loved and trusted fintechs out there, with an NPS of 87%, a Trustpilot rating of 4.7/5, and a Glassdoor rating of 4.7/5.
🧠 About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Finance Tech team, with at least 5 years of experience leading multiple teams and directly managing other managers. This isn’t just about people management. It’s about being a technical enabler, an owner of your systems, and a strategic partner for our finance team.
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary squad of software engineers working at the heart of seQura’s financial operations. From internal tooling to core banking operations and accounting systems, you’ll own the architecture, security, and performance of the services that power our financial backbone.
You’ll be trusted to shape how money flows through our platform — building the infrastructure that keeps us scalable, auditable, and future-ready (multiple countries, currencies, and companies).
You’ll help us do this by combining technical leadership, regulatory awareness, and a strong product mindset. You’ll be a builder who leads and a leader who builds.
Job requirements
🌟 How you lead
Outcome-driven
You solve real user and business problems. You’re not here to build for the sake of building.
High-agency
You spot problems and fix them. You don’t wait for permission — you move.
Team enabler
You lift others through clarity, code, and care. Shared success matters more to you than being right.
Collaborative by default
You believe great products happen when engineers, product, design, and business build together.
🚀 Where you’ll make an impact
Lead with clarity and courage
Act like an owner. When something’s unclear, broken, or missing — you move. You lead by example, with openness and humility, and bring clarity in ambiguity.
Coach and enable your team
Champion a culture of growth. You’ll make others better through constant coaching, mentorship, and by seeking and sharing feedback — which we see as a gift. You’ll lead by example and make learning a daily practice for the whole team. Build psychological safety and shared accountability.
Own the system
You’ll design, evolve, and maintain our core financial systems — from architecture to observability. Make sure they’re auditable, scalable, and built to last.
Work across teams
You’ll partner closely with Finance, Data, and Product, treating our internal finance and ops teams as your primary users. Your mission: understand their struggles and build solutions that eliminate friction and help them scale.
Focus on outcomes, not output
You’ll lead with impact in mind: ship iteratively, learn fast, and raise the bar on code quality, testing, and resilience.
Drive for sustainable impact
Focus the team on long-term value. Balance delivery pressure with platform health. Champion a disciplined, ambitious, and sustainable way of working. We believe our best work happens when we’re supported and well-rested — not when we’re playing heroes.
Balance speed and compliance
You’ll bring discipline to how we build. Ensure everything meets financial regulations and data protection laws while keeping developer velocity high.
🧩 What you’ll need
Wide experience in regulated environments (MUST)
You’ve been an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead in FinTech, banking, or similarly strict domains. You have wide experience in regulated environments, but also know how to ship fast while playing by the rules.
Strong technical foundation
You’ve worked with Ruby on Rails or similar ecosystems (Python, Kotlin, Elixir, Java, JS). You understand system design, clean code, and DevOps culture.
Great practices, always
TDD, pairing, continuous refactoring, code reviews, and CI/CD aren’t just buzzwords — they’re how you work.
End-to-end ownership mindset
You own what you build: from discovery to design, to delivery, to monitoring and maintenance.
Project delivery skills
You’ve led complex projects with multiple stakeholders. You simplify, prioritise, and communicate clearly.
Communication skills
You’re a clear, honest communicator. You write thoughtfully and use async communication to protect the team’s focus and flow.
😎 What we offer
We have a strong and sustainable foundation, where we provide a secure and reliable workplace. You have the freedom and trust to make the best contribution possible.
One of our most valued strengths by our employees is our fellowship and supportive culture, which fosters a sense of belonging by working closely with our values. With us, you will have challenging projects to work on and push your skills and knowledge.
In addition, we are very proud of the unique office we have, which offers a comfortable and inspiring environment to work in with everything you need.
23 vacation days + 2 days of free disposal per year
Flexible compensation plan for transportation, restaurants, and kindergarten with Cobee
Health insurance discounts with Sanitas and DKV
Flexible working hours
A personal budget for professional development
Office workshops and meet-ups to encourage community participation and career growth
Hybrid work: ideally 3 days in the office per week
Work visa and relocation support to Barcelona, if needed.
